ABOUT THE BOOK

These essays are written from the perspective of someone brought up in two worlds: Jewish and secular. These were the worlds my father, Kopul Rosen, delighted in and encouraged me to pursue. He always used to talk about the tension between Athens and Jerusalem and, in the end, gave priority when it was necessary to choose— to Jerusalem. That priority runs through this collection. So when I criticize, it is out of love and a desire to portray the good and the not so good in both.
