This is basically volume four of a rolling memoir. Each stands alone, as well. Joe Wise likes to think of it as unpacking his life, and some of its lessons. Anais Nin tells us she writes to “live twice.”

Joe has much less interest in, or juice around, calendar sequencing, than he does about what struck him, caught him, surprised him, and, even if painful, changed him.

Joe also like to believe these books, these collections, are his potlatch, his gifts to the world, as they were to him. A place to reencounter a meeting, parse a song, cushion a fall, call out a deception, embrace the world, as it is now.
