About the Authors

Olha Onyshko lived through the fall of the Soviet Union, three revolutions, and witnessed her country of Ukraine sinking into revolution, invasion and war. She knows what it means to be an immigrant, a working mom and an activist who has learned to express herself through storytelling and visual arts in order to heal, grow and create communities. In her work, Olha spotlights stories that bring hope, empower vulnerability and awaken the goodness of humanity. She loves children, nature and peace. In her favorite childhood memory, she played imaginary games with fairies in the rose garden planted by her grandfather Yul’ko near the ancient family well, where she listened to secrets of flowers and trees and watched her grandfather’s doves circling above. As an award winning Ukrainian-American filmmaker and scriptwriter she debuts with her first book Legends of Water.
