His style doesn\u2019t appear to be from the Melville side. You won\u2019t find unending descriptions of the sea, or page after page detailing a misbehaving whale, as Herman was wont to do. David writes more like the Anderson side. Short sentences and fragments. He has studied ontology for over 30 years. His lovely wife, Lisa, refers to everything he reads as \u201chis mind books.\u201d David has written about a dozen books in his head, and this is the first one to escape. This mind stuff only goes so far, then at some point, it\u2019s gotta get out. He grew up in Kingston, Massachusetts with nine siblings. His parents, Robert and Doris, were both writers.
