Remembering Kirk Douglas (1916-2020)

The recent passing of Kirk Douglas reminded me of his appearance at the 2012 Turner Classic Film Festival, in LA.  I attended the festival and took the picture of Kirk Douglas below as he started to introduce his film  Seven Days in May (1964) . Then 95, he ran (not walked) to the center stage. He was playful and fun. The first thing he asked the audience was “is there anyone older than 95?” He of course was the oldest in the room, a remarkable achievement in a lifetime of film and humanitarian achievements. Kirk Douglas’s said his favorite film is Lonely are the Brave  (1962).  It’s one of my favorites as well, and featured in Chapter 37 of Download This Movie for a Reel Good Time.
